Trinity fielded a youthful team with 6 schoolboys. It was a very even match characterised by errors from both teams and short of meaningful efforts on goal.
Thus both keepers had a peaceful afternoon and were able to enjoy the wonderful sunshine.
The first half ended 0-0 with most of the creative endeavor coming from Trinity.
The second half saw Merton scoring a quick goal which led to renewed effort from Trinity. Despite great attacking endeavor, which led to numerous short corners, Trinity failed to score. The profligate waste of these chance when Merton scored a second goal to go 2-0 up - largely against the run of play.
Trinity responded with great spirit and continued to take the game to Merton eventually leading to John Seamen scoring with 17 minutes left.
This led to an entertaining last quarter of the game. Unfortunately, despite gaining several more short corners none were converted.
The final whistle blew with Merton winning 2-1 and Trinity regretting the many missed short corners.
