Back to Hockey 2016

For another year, TMW Hockey are running Back to Hockey sessions throughout June, supporting the England Hockey, Back to Hockey initiative.

Back to Hockey sessions are fun, sociable and informal and aimed at people who either haven’t played hockey for a number of years or who are looking to play for the first time. Don’t worry if you’re nervous or don’t remember any rules, our Back to Hockey coaches will gently guide you through this series of fun and friendly sessions. We promise it’s nothing like the schools days of muddy pitches and standing around waiting for a touch of the ball!

Where do I find a session?

We run Back to Hockey Sessions on:

Wednesdays 7:30pm – 9:00pm

June 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th

Trinity School (Lower Astroturf pitch), Shirley Park, Croydon, CR9 7AT

How do I join a session?

Just send us a short email first so we can expect you at the session and answer any questions that you may have:

I haven’t played for a while…

Don’t worry if you’re new to the game or haven’t played for a while our Back to Hockey coach will gently guide you through this series of fun and friendly sessions. We will also take into account your level of fitness when planning and delivering each session. The activities you take part in during the session may help you improve your fitness over time.

What should I wear/bring to the session?

Comfortable sports clothing and trainers are best. We provide sticks. If you have your own stick you are more than welcome to bring it and we would recommend taking a soft drink or bottle of water as well. Shin pads and a gum shield are not essential to begin with, but bring them if you have them.

What are the basics of the game?

The coach will run through a few simple rules, however if you want a quick refresher before your next session please take a look at our short Learn About The Game page.

AGM This Thursday

It’s the AGM this Thursday, 8pm at the clubhouse.

This is your chance to contribute to the direction and the future of the club following a successful year. The club makes it possible for us to play competitive hockey throughout the season, develop and improve our hockey talent and be in a friendly and sociable atmosphere. It wouldn’t happen without the members, the committee and the volunteers that keep it all going.

There are plenty of ways that you can help the club, both large and small but first comes the AGM. Hear how the whole club has got on from the 1st to the colts, see what we’ve got planned for the future and vote or stand for the committee. There are several changes that have happened or are happening to the club and committee over the past year and we need your input to make next year a success.

It shouldn’t last that long, you can have a beer while you’re doing it and it should be a really positive meeting. It would be great if we could have a strong turn out from all teams of the club.

Hope to see you there,

The Committee
